The Google Pixel 9 series — released August 2024 — represents Google's most refined hardware to date. All four models (Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold) share Google's Tensor G4 chip and run the latest version of Android with guaranteed OS updates through 2031.

The Pixel 9 Pro lineup is distinctive for its polished metal frame, flat display design (a return from the curved displays of earlier Pro models), and sophisticated camera system. The cameras make it a particular favourite for photography, but they also make the back panel more complex — the large camera housing is glass, and breaks in a characteristic pattern that differs from the older Pixel 8 series.

Pixel 9 screen repair uses the same OLED panel technology as earlier Pixel models but with a key distinction: the in-display fingerprint sensor. The Pixel 9 series uses an optical under-display fingerprint reader that works in conjunction with the OLED panel. If a non-OEM-compatible panel is installed, the fingerprint sensor will not calibrate correctly and may become non-functional. At STS, we use OEM-specification OLED panels — same colour profile, brightness, and sensor compatibility as the original panel. Pixel 9 Pro Fold screen repair is the most specialist service in the Pixel 9 range. The Fold has two displays: a 6.3" outer cover screen (OLED) and a 8" inner foldable OLED screen. Outer cover screen replacement is comparable in difficulty to other Pixel Pro models. Inner foldable screen replacement requires specialist handling — the UTG (Ultra-Thin Glass) layer over the foldable panel is far more delicate than conventional phone glass. Outer from $179; inner from $299 (POA after assessment).

Battery replacement on the Pixel 9 addresses the most common long-term complaint: degraded battery life. Google rates the Pixel 9 battery at 4,700mAh with all-day life on a full charge, but capacity drops significantly after 300–500 cycles. A replacement brings the phone back to full capacity. From $79.

Charging port faults on Pixel 9 are typically related to USB-C port wear — the port is used for both charging and data transfer, and with daily use the port receptacle can loosen or develop intermittent connection. Replacement from $69.

Back glass replacement on Pixel 9 Pro models requires attention due to the camera island design: the rear panel integrates with the camera housing. A cracked back doesn't affect camera function but is cosmetically significant. Back glass from $89 (standard Pixel 9); from $109 (Pixel 9 Pro).
