iPhone camera faults range from a simple cracked lens cover (cheap and quick to fix) to a failed camera module needing replacement. The most common camera complaints we see are: a black screen when opening the camera app, blurry photos that won't focus, a rattling sound with failed stabilisation, and cracked camera lens glass from a drop.
Most iPhone camera problems are hardware faults that respond well to a module or lens replacement. Before assuming the worst, we check the simple causes first at the free diagnostic — a smudged lens, a software glitch, or a dirty lens cover. When the camera module genuinely needs replacing, it's a same-day repair.
Rear camera module replacement: the rear (main) camera is the most-used and most-likely-to-fail camera. Symptoms requiring replacement: black screen on the rear camera, blurry/unfocusable photos, rattling OIS, or lines/artefacts in photos. Rear camera module replacement from $69 for iPhone 11–13, from $89 for iPhone 14–15 (more complex multi-lens Pro systems). Same-day.
Front (selfie) camera replacement: the front camera fails less often than the rear but can be damaged by drops or water. Front camera replacement from $69. On Face ID models, if Face ID still works but the camera image is faulty, we replace the camera while preserving Face ID function.
Camera lens glass (cover) replacement: the sapphire glass cover over each rear camera lens cracks from drops — the raised camera bump makes first contact with the ground. A cracked lens cover causes blurry photos, light flares, and visible cracks in images. The lens glass is separate from the camera module — if the camera itself works but the cover glass is cracked, we replace just the glass from $49 per lens. Much cheaper than replacing the whole module.
iPhone Pro camera systems: iPhone Pro and Pro Max models have three rear cameras (wide, ultra-wide, telephoto) plus a LiDAR scanner. Each camera can fail independently. We diagnose which specific camera is faulty and replace the affected module. iPhone Pro camera repair from $89 depending on which camera and model.
Camera not focusing / OIS failure: if your camera won't focus and rattles when shaken, the Optical Image Stabilisation has failed (loose magnets after a drop or magnet exposure). This requires camera module replacement — from $69. Do not place your iPhone near strong magnets (some car mounts, magnetic phone holders with powerful magnets) as this can damage the OIS over time.
Water damage and camera condensation: moisture inside the camera module causes foggy or spotty photos. If your iPhone was exposed to water and the camera shows condensation, the module may need replacement after the phone is dried and assessed. Camera replacement from $69 after water damage assessment.
