Lenovo ThinkPad is the gold standard business laptop. ThinkPad keyboards are legendary in the laptop world — the key travel, the tactile bump, the TrackPoint red dot in the middle. They're also separately replaceable units on most ThinkPad models, which matters enormously when you spill coffee. On a MacBook, a liquid spill often means a $600+ top case replacement because the keyboard is glued to the chassis. Lenovo Legion gaming laptops — the Legion 5, 5 Pro, and 7 series — are the Lenovo answer to ASUS ROG and MSI. They pack AMD Ryzen 7/9 or Intel Core i9 processors and NVIDIA RTX GPUs into gaming chassis. Like all gaming laptops, thermal management is critical. The thermal paste between the CPU, GPU, and heat pipes is a consumable: after 2–3 years of regular gaming it dries out and cracks, and performance throttles as a result. Regular gamers should do this every 2 years — it's the single best maintenance you can do for a gaming laptop.
The Yoga hinge mechanism — the one that allows a Yoga to fold flat into tablet mode or tent mode — is a more complex mechanism than a standard laptop hinge. It has a dual-hinge system with synchronised rotation, and it takes more stress than a standard hinge because it's articulated constantly. Yoga hinges fail in specific ways: the hinge screws strip, the hinge barrel cracks, or the synchronisation mechanism wears out. We replace broken Yoga hinges from $109 and check the display cable routing at the same time, since hinge failure often puts stress on the cable that runs through it.
