Lenovo Legion is one of the most respected gaming laptop lines in Australia — a brand that consistently tops enthusiast reviews for the balance of gaming performance, thermal management, and value. The Legion 5 is the segment's benchmark mid-range gaming laptop; the Legion 5 Pro brings a larger 16:10 WQXGA display and higher TGP; the Legion 7 steps up to premium RTX configurations. All are serious machines for serious gaming.
At STS Roxburgh Park, we repair the full Legion line: Legion 5 (Intel and AMD), Legion 5 Pro, Legion 7, Legion Slim 5 Gen 8/9, and older Legion Y series. Lenovo's Legion chassis are generally well-engineered for repairability — the bottom panel removal is straightforward and component access is clean. We repair with a 6-month warranty.
Thermal paste service is our most common Legion repair. Despite Legion's reputation for good cooling architecture, the thermal compound Lenovo applies at the factory degrades like every competitor's — the difference is that Legion's heatsink design maintains reasonable temperatures longer before degradation becomes noticeable. By year 2–3 on a Legion 5 with sustained gaming loads, CPU and GPU temperatures climb enough to trigger thermal throttling. A full repaste with quality compound and fan clean at STS restores the Legion's thermal margin and sustained gaming performance.
Legion screen repairs span a wide range of panel specifications. The Legion 5 ships in FHD 144Hz (base), FHD 165Hz (step-up), and sometimes QHD 165Hz configurations. The Legion 5 Pro uses a distinct 16:10 WQXGA (2560×1600) 165Hz or 240Hz panel — an unusual aspect ratio that requires sourcing the correct Legion 5 Pro panel specifically. The Legion 7 uses a QHD 165Hz or 240Hz panel in a similar 16:10 format. We source the exact specification for your model — getting the right refresh rate and aspect ratio matters on a gaming display.
Battery replacement on Legion laptops is cost-effective due to Lenovo's thoughtful design. The bottom panel comes off with screws, the battery connector is accessible, and the adhesive isn't aggressive. Legion 5 batteries (60–80Wh) and Legion 7 (80Wh) are replaced from $99.
Legion GPU fault repair follows the same micro-soldering approach as other gaming laptops. Solder joint failures on the discrete RTX module and VRAM failures are both addressable at the component level. Legion's more accessible chassis makes board extraction less risky than on the ultra-thin gaming competitors.
