A cracked iPad screen is one of the most common tablet repairs — iPads are used flat on tables, carried in bags, and handed to kids, all of which lead to drops. The good news is that iPad screens are repairable, and for most models the repair costs a fraction of a new iPad.
The repair approach depends on your iPad's construction. Older iPads have a separate glass digitiser layer over the LCD — if only the glass cracked, just the glass is replaced (cheaper). Newer iPads (iPad Air 4/5, all iPad Pro, iPad mini 6, iPad 10th gen) use a fused glass+LCD assembly that's replaced as one unit. We identify your model and explain the cost at the free diagnostic.
Standard iPad screen repair (iPad 5/6/7/8/9, iPad 10th gen): the most common iPad repairs by volume — these are the affordable iPads used in schools and homes. iPad 9th gen and earlier have a separate glass digitiser, so glass-only cracks are an economical repair from $89. iPad 10th gen (the redesigned model with USB-C) uses a more integrated screen — from $129. iPad Air screen repair: iPad Air 3 (separate digitiser) from $129. iPad Air 4 and Air 5 (fused Liquid Retina assembly with laminated display) from $169 — these have the glass bonded directly to the LCD, so the assembly is replaced as a unit. The laminated display gives the premium "glass on top of pixels" look but means glass-only repair isn't possible. 1–2 days.
iPad Pro screen repair: iPad Pro 11" from $199. iPad Pro 12.9" from $249 (the larger panel, and on M-series the mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR display, is more complex and costly). iPad Pro screens are fully laminated and bonded — replaced as a complete assembly. The iPad Pro also has Face ID and ProMotion 120Hz, both maintained with a correct-spec assembly. 1–2 days.
iPad mini screen repair: iPad mini 5 (separate digitiser) from $109. iPad mini 6 (fused assembly, the redesigned model) from $149. 1–2 days.
Glass vs fused assembly explained: on older iPads, the touchscreen glass (digitiser) and the LCD are separate layers — a cracked glass over a working LCD means we replace just the glass, which is cheaper. On newer iPads, Apple laminates the glass directly to the LCD for a thinner, better-looking display — but this means a cracked glass requires replacing the entire glass+LCD assembly, even if the LCD still works. This is why newer iPad screen repairs cost more. We confirm your model's construction at the diagnostic.
Touch not working after a crack: if the iPad touchscreen is unresponsive or registers phantom touches after a crack, the digitiser (touch layer) is damaged and needs replacing regardless of whether the display still shows a picture. This is part of the screen repair.
Apple Pencil compatibility: a correct-spec replacement screen maintains Apple Pencil functionality (1st or 2nd gen depending on your iPad). We use screens that preserve Pencil touch and pressure sensitivity.
