TCL TV backlight failures are the most common repair request we see. Standard TCL 4K LED models use basic LED strip arrays — when individual strips fail, the picture goes dark in sections or dims uniformly. QLED models use quantum-dot enhanced backlight arrays that require a more careful replacement process. In both cases, we replace the failed LED components and restore full brightness.
Mainboard faults on TCL TVs are the second most common repair. The mainboard runs the Google TV or Android TV interface, handles HDMI input switching, and manages audio processing. When the mainboard fails, symptoms include no image, random reboots, input source failure, or the TV being stuck on the TCL logo screen. We repair at the component level or replace the mainboard — either approach is faster and cheaper than a service centre job.
T-CON board faults cause distinctive visual symptoms: horizontal or vertical lines across the screen, half-dark image (upper or lower panel), or image tearing. The T-CON board controls the timing signals to the panel — it's a separate repair from the backlight and mainboard. We source T-CON boards for all current TCL models and typically turn these around in 2–4 days.
Android TV and Google TV software symptoms (apps not loading, remote pairing failures, system crashes) are almost always hardware faults in disguise — specifically NAND flash memory degradation or a failed processor on the mainboard. A factory reset won't fix these. We diagnose the underlying hardware fault and repair at the component level.
