Desktop PCs are the most repairable and upgradeable computers — almost every part is replaceable, so a fault rarely means a write-off, and an ageing PC can be transformed with the right upgrades. Whether your desktop won't turn on, shows no display, runs slowly, crashes with blue screens, or you want it upgraded or a new custom machine built, STS covers it.

We repair branded desktops (HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer) and custom/gaming PCs alike, do component upgrades, and build custom machines to your budget. We diagnose first and recommend only what will actually help — no unnecessary parts. Just bring the tower in; you don't need the monitor or keyboard for most diagnoses.

PC won't turn on / power faults: a dead desktop (no lights, no fans) is most often a failed power supply (PSU) — one of the most common desktop faults, especially after a power surge or with age. PSU replacement from $99 including a quality unit. Other power causes: a faulty power button/front-panel connector, a motherboard short, or a dead CMOS battery. We diagnose and repair power faults — usually economical.

No display / no signal: if the PC powers on but the monitor shows no signal, common causes are an unseated or failed RAM module (reseating RAM often fixes it), a failed or unseated graphics card, a motherboard fault, or a PSU not supplying enough power under load. We diagnose and fix "no display" faults from $79 — frequently a reseat or a single component replacement.

Slow PC speed-up: the biggest win is an SSD upgrade if you're still on a mechanical hard drive — boot and load times transform. SSD upgrade with full data clone (Windows and files preserved) from $129. RAM upgrade for multitasking from $79. We also do startup cleanup, malware removal, and thermal service (dust + paste) to restore performance. We recommend only the upgrades that will actually help.

Blue screen / crashes / random restarts: blue screens (BSOD) and random restarts can be hardware (failing RAM, overheating, failing drive, PSU) or software (driver conflicts, Windows corruption, malware). We run hardware diagnostics (RAM test, drive health, thermals) and software checks to find the root cause, then fix it. From $79.

Upgrades: desktops are highly upgradeable — SSD/NVMe, RAM, graphics card (GPU), CPU (where the board supports it), and storage. We assess compatibility, source quality parts, install, and configure. Graphics card upgrades for gaming or creative work quoted per card. Free upgrade assessment so you spend on what helps.

Custom PC builds: we build custom desktops to your needs and budget — gaming rigs, content-creation/CAD workstations, home/office PCs. We choose balanced components (no bottlenecks, no overspending), assemble with proper cable management and cooling, install and update Windows, and stress-test for stability before handover. Bring your budget and requirements for a consultation.

Cleaning and maintenance: desktops accumulate dust that chokes airflow and causes overheating/throttling and loud fans. A clean-out and thermal-paste refresh from $79 restores cooling and quietens the machine — worthwhile every couple of years.

Branded and custom PCs: we service HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, ASUS, MSI desktops and all-in-ones, plus custom/self-built and gaming PCs. All-in-one PCs (screen + PC in one unit) are also repairable — assessed individually.

Our workshop is at Shop G69, 250 Somerton Road, Roxburgh Park. Open 7 days, 9am–5pm.
