Google Pixel Not Charging Melbourne — USB-C Port, Battery, Wireless Charging

A Google Pixel that won't charge is a common, very repairable fault — and the most frequent cause is simply lint in the USB-C port, not a damaged port or dead battery. A quick port clean at STS is free and restores charging instantly in many cases.

When the port is genuinely worn, the battery has degraded, or wireless charging has failed, the repair is still straightforward. USB-C port lint cleaning — the common free fix: over months of use, the Pixel's USB-C port collects compacted pocket lint that sits at the base of the connector and stops the cable seating fully. Charging becomes intermittent, angle-dependent, or stops. We clean the USB-C port with proper non-conductive tools at the free diagnostic — no charge, and often an immediate fix. Don't poke the port with metal or toothpicks; the pins are delicate.

USB-C charging port replacement: if the port is worn or damaged (not just dirty), it needs replacement. The Pixel's USB-C port takes wear from daily plugging/unplugging and from charging while in use. On most Pixels the port is on a sub-board or flex; on some it's board-mounted (micro-soldering). Battery replacement: if the Pixel shows it's charging but the percentage barely moves, drains rapidly, or shuts down early, the battery has degraded. Wireless charging repair: the main and Pro Pixels support Qi wireless charging via a coil separate from the USB-C circuit (note: most a-series Pixels don't have wireless charging). If wired charging works but wireless doesn't, the coil or its connection may be faulty — often after a drop or water. Wireless charging repair from $89. Charging IC repair: if the Pixel detects a charger but won't actually take charge (and the port and battery are good), the charging IC on the board may be at fault. Charging IC repair from $129 (board-level micro-soldering), 2–3 days.

Fast charging note: Pixels charge fastest with a proper USB-C Power Delivery (PD) charger — a 30W USB-C PD charger for Pixel 6/7/8, with Pixel 9 Pro models supporting higher wattages. Low-wattage chargers, USB-A ports, or non-PD cables cause slow charging that isn't a phone fault. If "charging slowly" appears with a known-good fast charger, the port likely needs cleaning.

Is it the phone or the charger/cable? Part of the free diagnostic is ruling out a faulty cable or charger (a very common cause) before assuming the phone needs repair. We test with known-good chargers and tell you honestly if the fix is just a new cable.
