Kogan is Australia's own consumer electronics brand, and millions of Australian households have a Kogan TV in their living room. Sold through Kogan.com, Target, and Big W, Kogan TVs offer genuine 4K performance at price points that make premium brands difficult to justify. The Kogan Series 9 OLED and QLED models in particular compete well above their price point.
When a Kogan TV develops a fault — no picture, lines on screen, random shutdowns — the repair is often straightforward and cost-effective. At STS Roxburgh Park, we diagnose and repair the full Kogan TV range: LED Series 7, QLED Series 8, OLED Series 9, and older Kogan 4K models.
Backlight failure is the most common Kogan TV fault we see, and it's disproportionately common on budget LED TVs — including many Kogan models. Budget LED TVs use lower-cost LED strips with tighter binning tolerances, which means individual LEDs or entire strips can fail sooner than on premium brands. Kogan LED backlight repairs start from $129 and typically take 2–5 days for part sourcing. The result is a TV that looks and works like new.
Power board capacitor failure is the second most frequent Kogan TV fault. The power board converts mains AC to the various DC voltages the TV's circuits need — aging electrolytic capacitors cause symptoms like failure to power on, random shutdowns, standby-only mode, or audio-without-picture. We replace failed capacitors at the component level, which is a more reliable fix than swapping in a secondhand power board. Capacitor repair from $119 on Kogan TV power boards.
Mainboard faults on Kogan TVs typically manifest as HDMI input failures (a specific HDMI port stops working), software-related issues, or processing board failures that cause a complete black screen with working power indicator. Kogan smart TV mainboards run a custom Android TV interface — EEPROM and firmware faults are also diagnosable and in many cases repairable at the component level.
T-CON board faults cause the most visually dramatic symptoms — vertical or horizontal lines running across the screen, half the screen being blank, or colour distortion patterns. T-CON boards are the interface between the mainboard and the panel; when they fail, the panel signal is corrupted. T-CON repair or replacement from $129.
Kogan OLED TVs (Series 9) use LG Display WOLED panels — the same panel technology as LG's own OLED TVs. The processing and board architecture differs from LG's implementation, but the repair principles are the same: board-level faults are repairable, OLED panel failures are not economically replaceable. We assess honestly.
